Acclaimed Turkish-psych innovators Altın Gün return with a stunning new single "Lelim Ley" from their much awaited new album (out March 2023 - more details soon). A classic song of lost love and exile, it showcases the propulsive urgency of the band's legendary live performances.
Background info for "Lelim Ley":
Lyrics: Sabahattin Ali (1907 – 1948), Turkish novelist, short-story writer, poet, and journalist.
Music: Zülfü Livaneli
Even though his life was cut brutally short, Sabahattin Ali had and still has a very influential spot in Turkey’s modern literature. His limited work has been translated into music, theater and various literary works. This poem, taken from Sabahattin Ali's short story "Ses" (1937), with music composed by Zülfü Livaneli, has been embraced by people from so many different walks of life that it has become one of the most well-known Turkish songs ever.
Akyol says. “I’m looking inside my consciousness to my culture. I love rock but there are hidden things in my subconscious. Call it Turkish art rock if you like.” Altin Gün
